Financing Energy Efficiency in the Romanian Building Stock

Held in Bucharest, March 2012

Building on the success of our last year’s workshop on Financing Energy Efficiency in the Romanian building stock, we would like to reproduce a winning concept and bring together high level decision makers from the government, the industry, financial institutions, consumer organisations and academia. Our objective is to share best practices from other European Member States, and to provide guidance for the Romanian context.

The focus of this second workshop was to examine how to better access European funding sources for making large scale (deep) retrofits happen in Romania.

The BPIE supports Member States to take opportunities and look at successful models and innovative investment schemes existing across Europe. The cases presented were Lithuania and Greece.

The challenge will be not only to mobilize available European funds but also to adapting the schemes to the respective national territories following other good practices within the EU.
